Base Metal Concentrates Analysis Ltd is a privately owned laboratory located in Haydock, that provides independent commercial analysis to customers based around the world.

Apprentice Technician

Monday – Friday 1.30pm to 9.00pm

Main duties & Responsibilities:

• Follow in house techniques as trained.
• Quality Control; process samples through the laboratory within company guidelines and working to ISO 17025:2017 standard
• Operation of balances for sample weighing
• Accurate labelling of sample vessels
• Perform housekeeping duties and calibrating equipment as required by the Departmental Manager
• Use IT for the recording of data and sample tracking within the laboratory
• Safe handling of chemicals and awareness of laboratory hazards
• To store samples in accordance with the systems in place
• Comply with Health & Safety requirements: as per training, policies, procedures, risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work etc
• Actively seek to improve safety culture
• Report any H&S issues/accidents/near misses to your line manager immediately

Desired skills:

• Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels both internally and externally
• Ability to effectively work as part of a team and independently
• Able to use Microsoft applications including, Outlook, Word and Excel
• No previous knowledge required as full training will be provided

Future prospects:

Opportunity to be trained up to a fully qualified Laboratory Technician (higher level)
